Yes it seem the whole country has gone garden mad! This is a very sane sort of madness in my view. Fanatical gardners I can tolerate with ease. Whilst they will rave on about varieties of spuds and sprays, wax lirical about willows and the virtues of seed saving, at last I am at peace, it is music to my ears, finally a rage I can join in. In the county of Cavan there is a movement = Sustaining Cavan. People are creating community gardens, allotments, Walks and Willow farms. I wll post as information becomes available. It is all very exciting.
The Jampa Ling Community Garden is looking great. Two new helpers, Jasmine and Megan from Oregon USA. are here briefly to lend a hand. Nearly all the potatoes are planted. White onions in , red still to plant. Garlic is up. Broad beans are up.
We are in the process of removing the compost heaps out of the garden and moving them to the Haggard. The area will be developed, probably to grow more fruit.
Varieties this year include – Sarpo Mira, Sarpo Axona, both main crop. Orla and Colleen, earlies.
