where did you come from oh Mother on my wall, pounding the millet into flour. You were all wrapped up in the second hand shop in Greystones and as you were unfolded they all stood back in awe. I couldn’t see you because I was holding you. A fiver? it that all they said! I paid with one of my last ones as the eyes watched greenly. I needed something to cover up my wall. Still for ages you hung sideways over an old sponge mattress. I’ll put it up sometime I said to myself. I waited until the energy came yet again. Hanging it up, driving the masonry nails in the only way I can attach anything, with my limestone plaster. I stood back, hoping for good energy and not darkness from the dark continent. I loved the colours, so earthy but who knows what they all meant. Standing back I saw her finally, and her baby and the turtle and the pot and the sturgeon and the armadillo or the rooster  and her movement. her arms raised again and again, and her huge feet and her hut and the hill and the sun……….
